Legacy Reclaimed Project

We are working to identify clusters of descendants who connect to each other and we're also working to break down the brick walls that resulted from enslavement and other estrangements. We're still organizing and planning and we have several experienced and serious researchers involved.

Our project currently includes:
--Over 200 atDNA tests on gedmatch for people whose enslaved ancestors have ties to Northeastern Mississippi Counties: Tishomingo, Alcorn, Itawamba, Prentiss, Tippah.
--Over 100 atDNA tests on gedmatch for people whose enslaved ancestors have ties to Northern Alabama counties: Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, & Morgan.
--Over 130 atDNA tests on gedmatch for Native Africans or direct descendants of known Native Africans from several ethnic groups and modern day African Countries. Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, South Sudan, Benin, Burkina Faso
--Over 150 atDNA tests on gedmatch for people whose enslaved ancestors have ties to clusters of counties in several Southern States: Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, North Carolina.

--Our FTDNA project includes close to 50 yDNA & mtDNA tests and we will be fundraising for project members to receive free or reduced price yDNA and mtDNA tests to further confirm and disprove lines. Upload your atDNA test from ancestry.com, 23andme, or myheritage to familytreedna.com (or add your yDNA or mtDNA familytreedna results) to our FTDNA project.

We would like to connect with more people have full African Ancestry (they, their parents, and/or all 4 of their parents were born on the African continent - and they know their African ethnic groups). We already have several added to the project and will work with members to help them learn more about their African matches.
